The Human Resources Director (HRD) is a strategic business partner to the SVP, Chief Technology Officer. Through robust partnership with the Engineering Leadership Team, the HRD will develop and execute an HR strategy that is aligned to achieve the business results. The strategy will build an innovative and highly efficient engineering workforce focused on delivering value for our Global Business Units (GBUs). They will ensure we have the Best People and Best Teams in place to enable our Product Creation Powerhouse Strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and Key Deliverables:
Talent: Lead talent management for Engineering across the enterprise to ensure we have the right talent, in the right places, at the right time to enable the business strategy

  • Own talent development process across the matrix; ensure leadership is aligned and proactively driving strategic development
  • Lead succession planning and career pathing strategy to develop bench strength for critical positions; ensure talent is shared across the matrix; champion individual career planning
  • Lead Engineering Global Footprint strategy to effectively manage growth while building global capability
  • Track, measure and report on talent metrics; use predictive analysis methods to anticipate staffing requirements
  • Cultivate a leadership team that has a "talent-focused mindset" through coaching, mentoring, and holding leaders accountable for employee development
Organization: Design, build, and deploy an organization that wins
  • Partner with leaders on organizational design for the team, considering factors such as headcount needs, span of control, and overall team performance and effectiveness
  • Design roles with clear responsibilities and accountabilities; ensure broad communication of how roles fit into the organizational design and strategy
  • Develop a build vs. buy strategy for organizational capabilities; leverage global workforce and contingent workers for flexibility
  • Coach leaders to set clear vision for teams; pulse check employee clarity; champion standard work including goal setting and ongoing feedback
Culture: Culture: Refine & build upon Polaris' already compelling and unbeatable culture
  • Lead the initiative to build a strong team culture that is aligned with the Polaris Values by enabling, coaching, and holding leaders accountable
  • Maintain visibility and active presence within the team to be a credible and trusted resource, fostering two-way communication and open feedback from team members
  • Identify, communicate and problem-solve employee relations issues
  • Create and champion rewards and recognition practices within the team
  • Lead forums for regular, ongoing communication within the team
Functional Excellence: Deliver exceptional HR partnership and functional expertise
  • Act as a business partner to the leadership team to execute against strategic priorities and facilitate success against metrics, goals and objectives
  • Lead annual HR and business processes including Org & Talent Review, performance management, compensation planning, employee survey, Long Range Planning, and Ops Planning & Budgeting
  • Understand points of connection between business strategy and people strategy; balance business needs with employee advocacy
  • Serve as an expert in change management processes; coach leaders on how to enable successful organizational change
  • Partner with HR COEs to build defendable global compensation plans, job architectures, workforce planning and analysis tools, and superior systems, processes, and policies
  • Be a flexible leader; get involved in day-to-day tasks as needed; other duties or projects as required or assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources or related leadership field
  • Ability to lead, engage, coach and develop team of HR professionals
  • Comfort with ambiguity; proven ability to work in dynamic, matrix organization
  • Intellectually curious, fast learner, results driven, strong work ethic
  • Strong data analysis and financial skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Fast-paced, dynamic culture in a casual office environment
  • Based out of Wyoming, MN location
  • Some travel required (20% or less)
