As an Electrical Engineer - Smart Components in our CentralElectrical Engineering organization you will be a pivotal member of our team;designing, developing, calibrating, and validating the software and hardwareaspects of electronic smart components. This includes control algorithms,diagnostics, and communications for CAN based Switch Cubes, Steering WheelControls, and other smart CAN connected device which are used across multiplePolaris product lines.
In most cases, the design will be at a high level, such ascapability requirements, algorithms for the functionality, and you will lead avendor or internal resources in the development of the controller module design.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
·Works with the product team's electrical engineers to understandand decompose vehicle system level requirements into controller hardware andsoftware requirements.
·Document hardware, software requirements, and validation testsusing Integrity (a requirement and software development database application).
·Interfaces with vendor(s) and Polaris Purchasing as needed for component/moduledevelopment, ensuring quality is met.
·Interfaces with other internal Polaris Teams as needed to ensureall functionality is compatible.
·Performs calibration of the controller as needed.
·Manages on bench/vehicle control module validation of HW and SWincluding interfacing with technicians for execution
·Optimizes controller design and manages re-use to serve multipleproduct lines and functionality requirements with the shortest design cycletimes possible
·Updates team on controller development schedule/status toclarify deliverable expectations
·Other duties as required
Education, Skills and Knowledge:
1. B.S. or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering required.
2. Experience with design and/or implementation of controls, especially relatedto vehicle controls/diagnostics/communication required
3. Experience with software and/or hardware V&V effortsincluding MIL/SIL/HIL, other low level software verification, and relateddocumentation required.
4. Experience with DFMEA, SFMEA, and Functional Safety stronglydesired.
5. Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced developmentenvironment required
6. Experience with motor controllers, and power electronicsstrongly desired.
7. Experience in effective problem solving and troubleshootingrequired
8. Experience with communication networks required, CAN andJ1939 strongly preferred
9. Familiarity with requirement and test case management in anyrequirement/software development database application as well as configurationmanagement preferred.
10. Experience in project management strongly preferred
