External Description:
This critical leadership role will lead the engineering organization through transformational change as new capabilities within Product Data Management (PDM) are created and integrated into core Business Units. A key accountability of this role will be ensuring success of Chunnel Phase 2. Additional responsibility spans Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategy, with the prospect of expanding leadership of other centralized solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Global Product Data Management (PDM) Strategy Ownership (40%)

  • Accountable for the success of Chunnel Phase 2 program, which enables an unconstrained Factory Choice business model
  • Provides strong cross-functional team leadership across Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, PG&A, Supply Chain, and Technology partners (both internal IS and external strategic partners)
  • Lead strategy and adoption of all users onto NEW Windchill platform for BOM and rules management execution. Direct Program team consisting of IS product owners, 3rd Party Consultants, and BU Engineering team members.
  • Partner with IS to define global requirements (IS Product Owner owns integrations) - lead and standardize for IS automated integration requirements
  • Drive creation of overloaded BOMs standards, including modularity strategies across multiple business units. Requires partnership with Manufacturing and Front-End teams.
  • Define the configuration-validation process to improve Engineering build-readiness (reducing product-development-caused rework)
  • Partner with BU Front-End go-to-market teams to ensure PDM strategy provides:
    • Creation of proper "sales rules" to enable successful go-to-market strategies
    • Construction of Standard Work for front-end tactical execution
  • Partner with Service to define new Service BOM requirements and new process application for serviceability
  • Lead strategy and adoption of PGA attributes into option pools, option sets, and rules management
  • Partner with PGA to define new requirements and process standards
  • Own integration strategies (and tactics) for non-integrated Business Units
  • Define architecture strategy for option pools utilization across multiple business units

Factory Choice GDP Leadership Team (40%)
  • Accountable for the success of Chunnel Phase 2 program, which enables an unconstrained Factory Choice business model
  • Accountable for regular Project Status report-out to Executive Leadership team
  • Active in enterprise-wide Factory Choice GDP steering team, consisting of teams from Demand Planning, Sales, Marketing, PG&A, Service, and MFG
  • Owns the Engineering Project Budget for Chunnel Phase 2

Solution Support - PTC Windchill (20%)
  • Lead the development and implementation of NEW overloaded BOM formatting, maintenance & revision governance
  • Lead the design, implementation, and training of users on global, technical, & sales rules
  • Establish Training plans & development of project assistants and project engineers
  • Formulate the roles and responsibilities for execution of NEW BOM and rules strategies
  • Lead development of standard work for creation & maintenance process for design BOM, EBOM, option pool, option set & choice mapping
  • Design and Implement NEW parts library standards choice names across product lines to promote part reuse & commonality
  • Identify, align, & implement new processesintegration
  • Execute the strategic and tactical plans for the Change Management capability, supported by the PTC Windchill software platform including the Polaris Release System (PRS), Arbortext, PTC Integrity, and all future applications that are part of or integrate with Windchill
  • Oversee the work of any external partners or contractors working with Polaris on the Windchill platform
  • Assist the Engineering Applications Manager in developing the departmental budget, long-range goals & objectives, and operate within approved budget
  • Completes other business process assignments as requested or required (i.e. CAD/Creo updates, etc.)

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-starter with proven ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment across a portfolio of projects
  • Willingness and passion to develop with Polaris and be a strategic thinker for the long-term benefit of the company
  • High technical aptitude and comfort level working with computer systems and software
  • Excellent project management and process mapping skills (e.g. Value Stream Mapping; Process Flows; Relationship Diagrams)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to effectively tailor communication and gain alignment at all levels of the organization; comfortability with reporting to executive staff
  • Effective decision-making, problem solving, and customer-service
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, IS, or related field is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects within one or more of the following functions: Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality or Supply Chain
  • Proven track record of leading large cross-functional teams and achieving measurable process improvement results
  • 3+ Years' experience directly managing Engineering Part and BOMs with platform mindset in Product Data Management / Product Lifecycle Management solution
  • Experience with PTC Windchill and Infor Powerlink XA highly desired
  • Preferred Engineering project/design leadership experience
  • Preferred experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
  • Process Improvement / Lean experience with most of the following: Facilitating Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, Stage/Gate Process and Product Development Process

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Very fast-paced, dynamic culture in an office environment.
Travel as needed (approximately 10-15%).
