Position Description: Design, develop, calibrate, and validate the software and hardware aspects of the engine controller, which includes control algorithms, diagnostics, and communications for the ECM used across multiple off-road Polaris product lines. Lead vendors or internal resources in the development of the controller design. Work with the product team's electrical engineers to understand and decompose system level requirements into controller hardware and software requirements. Document hardware, software requirements, and validation tests using Integrity (a requirement and software development database application). Interfaces with other Subject Matter Experts to ensure I/O analysis is completed and communications are defined. Interfaces with vendors and Polaris Purchasing as needed for controller development, ensuring controller quality is met. Interfaces with Service, Vendors, and other controller leads to ensure controllers are serviceable. Performs calibration of engine controller, communications, and diagnostics. Interfaces with other Polaris Powertrain as needed to align vendor releases schedules. Interfaces with other internal Polaris Teams as needed to ensure all functionality is compatible. Leads controller validation of HW and SW including MIL/SIL/HIL Simulations and/or bench & vehicle testing including interfacing with technicians and/or contract engineers for execution. Optimizes controller design and managers re-use to serve multiple product lines and functionality requirements with the shortest design cycle times possible. Updates team and controller development schedule and status to clarify deliverable expectations.

Position Qualifications: Applicant must possess a Bachelor's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related engineering field, and 2 years of professional experience as a vehicle controls engineer. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience in the following: (1) 2 years of experience with design and implementation of vehicle control algorithm, diagnostics, and communication; (2) 1 year of experience with controller validation and verification; (3) 2 years of experience using Controller Area Network (CAN, J1939 Protocols); (4) 1 years of experience with DFMEA and FMEA; (5) 1 year of experience with controller calibration; and (6) 1 year of experience with project management. Polaris requires all new hires to pass mandatory drug and/or alcohol testing and background checks.
