JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Polaris Sales develops and implements Sales strategy within multiple Sales regions to maintain a strong retail dealer network and Sales team to meet and exceed corporate and regional sales objectives for retail growth, increasing market share, and upgrading the dealer network. The Director is also responsible for managing the Sales teams in these regions, and providing oversight and guidance to execute policies and procedures to meet goals provided by the GM of Sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops Sales strategy within several regions to align with goals set by GM of Sales
  • Directs and leads Regional Sales Managers in several regions; as well as motivating and providing overall leadership to their teams of District Sales Managers
  • Travel to direct reports' regions 3-4 times per year to ride along and work with them within their region
  • Hold regular team meetings to maintain alignment and provide continuous learning and development
  • Develops, manages and controls annual regional budgets for East or West regions
  • Develops strategic plans and countermeasures to achieve regional wholesale, retail, and product stocking goals
  • Encourages team sharing of new ideas, best practices, and is innovative in driving retail performance and dealer profitability
  • Monitors and reports competitive activity and recommends sales/promotional strategy response; partners with Corporate on strategy/ policy development
  • Travels as needed to dealerships to evaluate effectiveness of dealerships and DSM's/RSM's; identifies best practices across districts and dealers
  • Leads team in identifying and prioritizing open points, conducting market output analysis and selecting new markets
  • Demonstrates knowledge of dealers' work processes, organizational structure, strategies, objectives and trends
  • Identifies opportunities for administrative reporting and analysis needed by management to monitor region performance
  • Maintains and drives understanding of Polaris' products, mission, values, and strategic imperatives and how they link to Sales team goals
  • Gathers feedback from teams and reports on trends of any issues, status, and attitudes of dealer network
  • Leads and drives consistency in the evaluation, ranking and recommendations of prospects in the dealer selection process
  • Thoroughly understands and finds strategic ways for team to utilize IS and tools to improve DSM role and dealer operations
  • Drives Lean practices and tools through Sales regions under their area of responsibility; encourages process improvement and best practice sharing throughout all regions


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required (Business, Marketing)
  • 10-15 years field sales and retail sales experience with proven track record of success
  • 5+ years previous experience in a Sales management role, including supervision of remote staff
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge of distribution network strategy
  • Recognized leader within Sales and consistent high performer
  • A demonstrated understanding, appreciation and passion for Polaris products
  • Experience with budget management, forecasting sales and expenses
  • Proficient in all MS Office software suite
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, and motivate


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Extensive travel within multiple regions of up to 80%
  • Travel to remote locations and corporate headquarters will be required
  • Home office environment with support from corporate location
