JOB SUMMARY:

Support maintenance personnel with all Weld Department equipment, associated auxiliary equipment, and perform daily checks and tests in the Welding Department. Performs maintenance, monitoring, and testing activities as assigned by Staff Weld Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibits a consistently positive attitude and professional demeanor under pressure
  • Provides superior customer service to the Welding Department and all subsequent customers
  • Communicates effectively and consistently with counterparts on other shifts, fosters a healthy team dynamic
  • Carries out specific assignments as directed by the Maintenance Work Order system.
  • Delivers support for the Robot Team, assists with robot power source and feeder problems and maintenance as needed
  • Plans and executes preventative maintenance of power sources, feeders, shielding gas system, torch assemblies, power cables, and other associated equipment
  • Understands how to set up, fine tunes, and operates a complete welding cell
  • Takes on leadership responsibly for maintenance of semi-auto welding systems
  • Coordinates troubleshooting activities with Maintenance, Tool & Die, and Welding Suppliers to resolve issues with weld processes and equipment
  • Supports and maintains weld data collection for troubleshooting, keeps accurate day to day maintenance log of weld systems
  • Aids as necessary in training and training activities of welders across all shifts
  • Assists Supervisors in monitoring operating status of equipment within the department
  • Performs activities in testing new weld equipment, consumables, and peripheral devices
  • Troubleshoots machine variances, which includes: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems to maintain cell uptime and product quality
  • Maintains OSHA compliance and corporate safety standards within the department and company
  • Develops, maintains, and updates standard operating procedures for welding maintenance
  • Works with Weld Engineer to develop & maintain semi-auto weld procedures
  • Keeps neat, clean, and orderly work area
  • Perform Facility Maintenance projects as assigned
  • Installs new equipment or works with outside vendors on installation and setup
  • Accepts miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Takes on overtime as necessary, and understands "on-call" duty may be required
  • Identifies capital equipment & facility replacements for annual capital plan
  • Manages spare parts inventory and critical spare parts lists for existing and new equipment projects
  • Identifies and sets up EAM PM's for all equipment
  • Owns responsibility for daily entry of work orders and management of PM completion within EAM for entire Maintenance Group
  • Holds responsibility for weld tooling preventative maintenance program
  • Develops and manages completion of daily, weekly, or monthly repairs for weld tooling PM's

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-Year technical degree or equivalent in Welding Technology desired


MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 5-years experience in maintenance of electrical industrial equipment
  • 5-years experience in a fabrication or welding environment


SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Advanced understanding of arc welding processes and variables (i.e. the relationship between arc weld amperage, voltage, and travel speed)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GMAW equipment, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, & Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide results with little supervision
  • Aptitude to read and interpret engineering prints, processes, and procedures
  • Capable of electrical trouble shooting
  • Detail orientated and accurate, maintains high degree of professionalism
  • Capacity to understand complex electromechanical systems
  • Basic aptitude of pneumatic & hydraulic circuits
  • Able to provide recommendations and support for new capital projects
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or EAM
  • Comprehends Polaris weld visual acceptance and macro cut/etch criteria
  • Must have fork lift certification or earn within 3 months of hire
  • Must be willing to travel for training, and will be required to complete basic and advanced courses as offered
