Job Description
Development Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
Research and development for Motorcycle Product Line. Whole-vehicle development,
including engine, driveline, suspension, frames and related items. Work to ensure that the final product package is optimized
to exceed the customer's expectations in the following areas: safety, performance, reliability, handling and comfort.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be creative and effective in the development of new or improved products
- Perform development and evaluation tests on vehicles
- Riding/driving vehicles for testing or mileage accumulation
- Must be capable of operating vehicles in extreme conditions for extended periods of time
- Work with engineering to support calibration and development tests
- Provide guidance on chassis layout and ergonomics
- Utilize data acquisition loggers to fulfill test requests and/or issue resolution
- Analyze data and report back to engineering team
- Keep good records and write concise test reports for tests conducted
- Provide feedback to the team for issue resolution, improvements, and cost reductions
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet OSHA requirements
- Good self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed
- Needs to be ambitious, accurate and dependable
- Must be willing to travel periodically to do product evaluation and development
- Able to communicate professionally and drive project to timely completion
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as required
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- High school diploma required
- 2-Year degree in technical field preferred
- 2 Years of work at a dealership preferred
- 3 Years mechanic or technician experience preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Valid driver's license required
- High level vehicle driving skills (race experience preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Powersports experience preferred
- Data acquisition & diagnostic tool experience preferred
- Fabrication & welding preferred
