Job Summary

The Central Planning Supervisor is responsible for management and leadership of a team of Central Planners assigned to them. They will serve as the escalation point for line-impacting shortages, will drive supplier corrective actions, and will be responsible for delivering inventory and operational goals as determined by the Central Planning Manager. The Central Planning Supervisors will collaborate to define Standard Work across the planning organization.

Central Planning Supervisor Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction to Central Planners
  • Serve as escalation point-of-contact for specified production lines when material shortages are imminent
  • Communicate timely and effectively to key stakeholders
  • Assist with part recovery plans and provide recommendations to operations teams
  • Drive root cause analysis and develop counter measures for items needing corrective action
  • Responsible for developing individual training and development plan for Central Planners
  • Responsible for Inventory Metrics for product group as assigned
  • Drives operational efficiency metrics related to part shortage impacts
  • Actively manage vendor relationships and on-time delivery performance
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage ABC Classification to reduce AA/A inventory, increase freight utilization, reduces unnecessary material handling, and optimizes BU flexibility
  • Teach, train and integrate new central planners
  • Develop and improve central planning tools and standard work
  • Creates audit plan to ensure assigned team is completing checklist activities in adherence with Standard Work
  • Manage International Trade Compliance rules and practices
  • Assists in resolving part shortages effectively & with minimum cost
  • Develops and manages good relations with Commodity Purchasing teams
  • Work closely with Purchasing during new part/Supplier integration and release
  • Support tasks as assigned

Skills & Knowledge

  • 2- 5 years' experience in purchasing, planning or materials
  • Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Knowledge of International Trade Compliance rules and practices
  • Strong, quick decision making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including intercultural communication
  • Negotiation skills including conflict management
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and Bill of Materials
  • Must have current PC/software proficiency including Microsoft Office (including Access) and BI
  • Ability to synthesize large amount of data quickly and stay calm under pressure
  • Four-year college degree with a focus on Supply Chain or related field preferred
  • APICS CPIM Certification or active pursuit preferred
