We have an exciting opportunity for a talented sales leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Polaris Motorcycle Sales Team. You will develop and lead the Retail, Brand, and Sales strategies to build a strong dealer network and exceed retail and profit objectives. In addition, you will strive to maximize Polaris consumer sales volume and profit for both Polaris and its distribution network. You will partner with brand leaders to increase market share by developing the strategy for retail growth and merchandising. Most importantly you will build a high-performing sales team through the acquisition of talent, training, development, and motivation of the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop Sales strategy for North American regions to align with goals set by the Motorcycle President.

  • Recruit, hire, train/develop/coach, motivate and inspire retail & channel sales team to meet retail, brand, merchandising, and growth goals and support the strategic needs of the Motorcycle Division and Polaris.

  • Direct and lead Regional Retail Managers, as well as motivate and provide overall leadership to their teams of Retail Experience Managers and Dealer Sales Managers across all of North America.

  • Create a retail/sales team culture of challenging dealers while still building collaboration to deliver an overall premium brand experience.

  • Develop and implement a strategy and process for closing sales, stocking and merchandising, and ensuring successful dealer operations that will deliver the division goals.

  • Create and implement new ways to deliver a premium customer experience through the distribution channel.

  • Work with product development and marketing teams to offer industry-leading products and services.

  • Develop and manage annual Motorcycle Sales business plan and monitor progress to monthly objectives

  • Maintain effective communication strategy with employees and key customers.

  • Develop incentive plans for the sales function that will incent and deliver the division goals.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to regional retail sales management staff.

  • Create an environment that gives the individual/team the responsibility and the authority to achieve goals, as well as hold them accountable for the attainment of those goals.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of dealers' work processes, organizational structure, strategies, objectives, and trends

  • Conduct in-field travel to dealerships to evaluate the effectiveness of the sales team impacting dealerships

  • Write and deliver effective presentations to employee groups, senior management, and outside customers/dealers

  • Lead sales negotiations with dealers; administrative agreements, timetables, etc.

  • Thoroughly understand and find strategic ways for the team to utilize IS and tools to improve DSM/REM roles and dealer operations

  • Drives Lean practices and tools through Field Sales regions under his/her area of responsibility; encourages process improvement and best practice sharing throughout all regions.

  • Develop and administer sales department budgets, expense accounts, travel allowances, etc.


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field required, MBA preferred.

  • Strong positive leadership skills with dynamic communication and motivation capabilities.

  • Minimum of ten years of sales experience with at least 4 years of experience in a sales management role.

  • Proven track record in sales management leadership with demonstrated experience taking a sales force to the next level.

  • Experience in a similar consumer product group industry with a diverse national customer network. Must have exposure to a performance-based, dynamic growth culture.

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures including inventory financing and credit practices.

  • High level of personal integrity.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Travel to direct reports' regions a minimum of 1-2 per year to ride along and work with them within their region
