We have a great opportunity for a Development Technician to join our Snow Engineering team. In this role, you will be focused on whole vehicle development with an emphasis on chassis architecture, ergonomics, and overall vehicle performance. Work to ensure that the final product package is optimized to exceed the customer's expectations in the following areas: safety, performance, quality, handling and comfort.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the fabrication and assembly of concept and development vehicle builds.
Utilize, install, and troubleshoot data acquisition equipment to capture information relevant to vehicle performance, calibration, and/or issue resolution. Ensure development and field test units have proper data acquisition equipment installed.
Ability to do basic and/or advanced instrumentation for data acquisition sensors such as strain gauges, load cells, accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.
Analyze and process data collected to draw conclusions and report back to engineering team with recommendations.
Provide input on whole vehicle layout, system and sub-system packaging as well as ergonomics and rider positioning.
Ride and evaluate vehicles through all phases of product development and launch to give feedback to the broader Engineering team on performance and capabilities.
Work with system engineers to support calibration and development tests.
Organize and lead development activity in the field - create and execute trip plans and report results back.
Work with validation engineers to perform and/or support items from the validation plan (DVP&R).
Perform lab and field testing and work to develop solutions as required to resolve product issues.
Support preproduction builds and oversees Pilot build activity.
Support quality verification testing.
Keep good records and write test reports for tests conducted.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet OSHA requirements.
Good self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed.
Must be willing to travel periodically to do product evaluation and development.
Able to communicate professionally and drive projects to timely completion.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
2-Year degree in a technical field
Experience and knowledge of riding mountain snowmobiles in off-trail, mountain terrain
Basic computer skills required
Valid driver's license required Must be capable of operating Snowmobiles in extreme conditions
Must be capable of driving trucks with trailers (>26,000 GCVR) and obtain Class A license certification
Must be capable of operating fork lifts
Strong mechanical aptitude
Strong problem-solving skills and methodologies
Power sports experience preferred
Data acquisition & diagnostic tool experience preferred
Fabrication & welding preferred
Minimum 3 years mechanic or technician experience preferred
Ability to travel to Canada and internationally as required
