We have a great opportunity for a senior-level engineer to join our Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) team. In this role, you will develop and manage department strategy, planning, and tactical execution to achieve organizational goals. Focusing on systemic process improvements within the ORV Engineering group by developing systems and best practices necessary to continuously improve Polaris ORV development processes and quality. Specifically focusing efforts to be placed in the ORV CVT/Transmission design function, integration, and attributedevelopment. In addition, you must also work with service, purchasing, internal manufacturing, and Powertrain design. You should be able to analyze issues, determine measurement and containments plans, and effectively communicate with internal stakeholders as well as domestic and foreign suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for minimum threshold requirements in CVT/Driveline Systems.
Controls criteria for entering pre-development, product line plans, technology development.
Manage root cause analysis activities through tools such as A3 and 8D. Own and assist in corrective action activities.
Participate in key project milestones. Includes Team Meetings, Design Reviews, Gate Reviews, and Project Reviews as well as participate in Service Rapid Response Meetings.
Gather, analyze, track and report on warranty and other consumer quality information.
Support continuous improvement of quality tracking and reporting methods to reduce data analysis time and improve communication effectiveness.
Work with engineering to assure quality lessons learned are captured, documented, and incorporated into their specifications and validation plans.
Interact and direct resources to multiple engineering sites.
Support program technical needs (domestic and international travel may be required).
Motivates, coaches, and develops team members to further organizational objectives and promote employee development.
Develops and manages the departmental budget.
Identify new products and/or feature opportunities and present preliminary cost weight, performance, and tooling estimates to senior leaders for review.
Provide production support and training during pilots of new models or features.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
B.S. degree in a technical field required (BSME or equivalent preferred). An advanced degree is a plus.
Passion for engineering and product excellence
Knowledge of all phases of Product Development with proven ability to progress design solutions for complex systems
Strong expertise in CVT and/or Driveline Product Engineering is required. Engineering leadership experience is highly desired.
